Apple’s tablet stranglehold

Apple's tablet stranglehold

There's Apple, and then everyone else. A report by Strategy Analytics finds that Apple now controls 95% of the market while Google's Android operating system slipped to 2.3 percent from 2.9 percent.

That creates problems for Samsung, HTC, Motorola and Dell which are among the companies using the Android operating system in tablet computers to rival the iPad.

They have a lot of ground to make up, particularly with another survey showing that 80% of tablet buyers plan to pick up an iPad.

The really interesting question is what this might do for PC sales. Microsoft claims that tablets are not affecting PC sales but then, they would say that. As reported here, Dell and HP now say that PC sales are flat. They won't pick up.
