Branson's iPad magazine

Richard Branson is about to get into the publishing business and become a content creator.

The Guardian reports that Branson will launch an iPad magazine in New York next week. That will put him in competition with Rupert Murdoch who also plans to launch an iPad newspaper, called the Daily, something I blogged about during the week. Branson's magazine will focus less on news and more on entertainment, travel, business, design and international culture.

Actually, when you think about it, that sounds like those terrible flight magazines that take you all of two minutes to read when you're stuck in a metal tube flying through the sky.

At this stage, it's not known whether the magazine will be given out for free or whether people will have to shell out for it. It's hard to imagine anyone would but then, stranger things have happened.

One thing for sure, it will give Branson the opportunity to showcase his global empire. Don't expect him to pass that up. If that costs him, it's no problem.
