
Greek police have had to use tear gas on angry rioters throwing petrol bombs and stones. Greece is at a standstill. People are venting their fury at more cuts, which the EU is demanding in return for a bailout.

Youths in hoods and gas masks used sledgehammers to smash marble paving slabs in the capital's main Syntagma Square and hurled the debris at police. Some officers were set alight as demonstrators attacked them with petrol bombs."
The Financial Times reports that Greece's largest police union is threatening to issue arrest warrants for senior International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank and European Commission officials, highlighting the deep distrust between Greece and its creditors, two years after the crisis began.
According to the Washington Post, Greek newspapers are now running pictures of German chancellor Angela Merkel dressed as a Nazi. With the crisis, all the old stereotypes of the Germans are coming back with a vengeance. This will end badly.
