Is Soros shorting Obama?

That's the question to ask with Sam Stein at the Huffington Post informing us that Soros told a private meeting of Democratic donors to direct their support somewhere other than the president.

"We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line. And if this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else," Soros reportedly said.

That doesn't mean Soros is funding an Obama challenge. Rather, it's about seeking to put money into progressive causes. Stein writes: "While Soros's comment gave some attendees the impression that he'd cheer a primary challenge to the president, the point, sources say, was different. Rather, it is time to shuffle funds into a progressive infrastructure that will take on the tasks that the president can't or won't take on."

If Obama is to secure funding from the likes of Soros, he will have to focus on key issues like climate change and immigration, areas shunned by the Republicans now taking control of the House.

Kenneth Vogel at Politico says these are the hot button issues Soros identified at that meeting.
