Japan life expectancy and equality

It's not the sake nor the sushi. The Guardian reports on a study that shows Japan has the highest life expectancy in the world – women will live to an average age of 86, men 80 – but that has nothing to do with the diet. It's all about equality and proper public health measures.

By way of contrast, life expectancy in the US is 75.4 for men and 80.4 for women. It's no secret of course that the US has a health care system gone to hell and that income inequality in the US is now totally insane. As reported here, income inequality is worse in the United States than it is in Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen.

We also have reports of studies showing that US income inequality means that Americans are dying sooner than their counterparts in other countries. The story of Japan tells us why. That means income inequality is bad for the rich too.
