Political fallout from the Koch allegations

Yesterday I did a blog entry on how the Koch brothers, the big donors to the Tea Party, not to mention the Republicans and anti-Obama campaigns, were accused in a Bloomberg report of paying bribes to win contracts, trading with Iran in violation of the US embargo, engaging in price-fixing and neglecting safety and environmental regulations.

The piece is likely to have a political impact. Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake at the Washington Post say Democrats will jump all over it. "Democrats have attempted to make bogeymen out of the tea party-supporting billionaire Koch brothers, and we'd expect them to push this big time,'' they write.

Koch Industries is the second biggest private company in America which means no doubt plenty of money will be directed to hosing down the allegations.

But then again, Bloomberg is not exactly a left leaning publication. It should be fascinating to watch the political fallout from the allegations. It will be even more interesting to see the impact on the Republicans and Tea Party.
