
The big news is that the US Justice Department plans to subpoena News Corporation over the the alleged phone hacking of 9/11 victims and alleged foreign bribery. The net is getting tighter.
The Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has begun an inquiry into whether News Corp. employees tried to hack into voice mails of September 11 victims. The Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission are also investigating possible breaches of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act which prohibits American-based companies, like News Corporation, from bribing foreign officials, like police officers. If found guilty, the company would be fined millions of dollars.
Reuters reports that the Justice Department is looking into allegations that News Corp's advertising unit hacked into computers of a competitor Floographics back in 2004.
