AC Milan pinged for dodgy accounting

Is nothing sacred?

My favourite team AC Milan along with Genoa-based Sampdoria have copped a massive fine for false accounting, reports Reuters.

The Italian Soccer Federation didn't just fine the clubs for false accounting that included inflating transfer fees. They also fined the directors.

And remember, Milan has form in this area. Earlier this year, AC Milan and Inter Milan, were cleared of false bookkeeping. The judge in that case ruled that the allegations in the case no longer constituted a crime because the law on accounting violations was changed in 2002. Milan president Silvio Berlusconi happened to be Italy's prime minister at the time.
