Earth to BP…
The Wall Street Journal reports that the BP in-house magazine, Planet BP, is reporting that things on the Gulf of Mexico have never looked better. The dispatched a "BP reporter" to Louisiana who quoted local seafood entrepreneurs saying there is no need to hate BP because the region is so dependent on oil.
" Much of the region's [nonfishing boat] businesses – particularly the hotels – have been prospering because so many people have come here from BP and other oil emergency response teams," another report says. Indeed, one tourist official in a local town makes it clear that "BP has always been a very great partner of ours here…We have always valued the business that BP sent us."
It's one thing to can BP for its appalling PR. But when the company itself fails to acknowledge there's a problem, what hope is there?
