Some of the most disturbing snippets of information are now emerging about the impact that climate change is having on flora and fauna. It's destabilizing our ecosystem.
We now have reports that flowers are losing their scent because of climate change and air pollution. It's getting too costly and flowers are dying fast. This will have a massive impact on the global flower industry which is now worth over $100 billion.
Then Australian scientists have found that global warming is changing the life cycle of butterflies. They are now emerging from their cocoons ten days earlier than they did 65 years ago, and the change is directly connected to rising temperatures.
Add to that reports that songbirds in the United States are getting smaller. Scientists attribute that to climate change.
While this doesn't mean climate change is necessarily harmful to butterflies and birds, it's alarming to learn that man made greenhouse gas emissions are changing the life cycles of animals. The implications of this are frightening. We are entering uncharted waters.
