Conrad Black's $200 million legal bill

Conrad Black fights on. Just days after being sent off to prison for engineering a major fraud on shareholders in his Hollinger media empire (the picture above taken by AP shows him holding his wife's hand as he left for prison through the front gates of his West Palm Beach mansion), Black has filed an appeal claiming his trial judge misdirected jurors and was biased towards the prosecution.
Lawyers think he has a snowball's chance in hell. "The appellate court in all likelihood, unless there's a significant constitutional deprivation, will not overturn this verdict,'' former federal prosecutor Mark Flessner told Bloomberg.
Which would only add to Black's legal costs.
Sun-Times Media executives are blaming the company's problems on the legacy of its former management, including $200 million in legal fees and other liabilities related to former CEO Black and his partner-in-crime F. David Radler, reports the Chicago Tribune.
