With Enronlinks's former head of investor relations Mark Koenig testifying that his ex-boss Jeff Skilling misled Wall Street analysts, the folks at Motley Fool have dusted off an interview with Skilling done back in 2001.

Check what the man says about the California power shortage.

"Now the magnifying problem here, David, is that it is occurring in a marketplace that has been designed by the government...We are doing everything humanly possible to get more power into California from places where power is in surplus. There are a lot of places in the country, and in North America, where there is a surplus of power, so there are a lot of things that can be done to move more power into the state. That is one of our primary roles ... making that happen."

Of course, old tapes told a very different story as the traders gloated over the power crisis and tried bringing the state to its knees.
