Is Facebook in danger of losing its coolness?
A new study compiled by compiled by iStrategyLabs, and reported here, has found that the 55 and older crowd is poised to overtake high schoolers and younger as the biggest users of Facebook. As PCWorld's Jared Newman points out, Facebook's just not cool anymore.
That points to a problem I examine in one of my newspaper columns here. Once the old people and business world gets on to a social networking site, it stops being cool. We saw it happening with Second Life, it might well be happening again with Facebook. When the suits come in, it ends the site's attraction. It stops being cool.
