Facebook makes profit

The big news is that Facebook is finally making money, and showing profits. That's one year before it was scheduled to start happening in 2010. Still, it's not convincing because the ads on the site are low cost although that might change.

But then, there's no denying its growth. Facebook's user base is now nearly as big as the US population with 70% of its users outside the US.

The finances are interesting because they suggest Facebook will not be on the auction block. Some are even saying it might list on the stock exchange in time.
