FIFA's dodgy ethics slated

Now a US District Judge Loretta A. Preska has, according to news reports, slated FIFA when she disqualified Visa from going forward with a contract that was supposed to install it as the new sponsor for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
The judge gave the job to MasterCard International on the grounds that FIFA didn't play fair in the first place when it awarded the rights to Visa. She said it was wrong for FIFA to mislead MasterCard when it was "simultaneously and aggressively" negotiating with Visa as well.
True to form, arrogant FIFA has declared that it will appeal the decision and fight to maintain its ability to nominate the exclusive sponsor.
But its problems don't end there. The FIFA Executive Committee has declared that it disapproves of vice president Jack Warner exploiting his position and profiteering by selling World Cup tickets but, surprise surprise, it said that it will take no action against him.
Warner had flagrantly defied FIFA's rules and set up secret deals with his son Daryan to sell thousands of tickets on the black market during the World Cup. You can read more about that here.
But Warner has been let off with a slap on the wrist, reports the Telegraph.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter expressed his "disapproval" at Warner's behaviour but the guy has basically got off on a technicality if inquiry chairman Marcel Mathier's words are anything to go by.
"It could not be evidenced that Mr Jack Warner had knowledge of the resale of these tickets at a higher price.
"The resale is certainly forbidden, but the person who did the reselling is not subject to the Fifa jurisdiction
because it is the son of Jack Warner."Fixing FIFA's cosy deals and behavior looks difficult, probably impossible. And while that continues, the game and fans will continue to suffer.
