Goldman Sachs doubled its lobbying expenses

Surprise surprise. The vampire squid Goldman Sachs keeps spreading its tentacles with Bloomberg reporting that the investment bank more than doubled its lobbying expenses to $2.7 million in the first six months of this year when it was under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission for misleading investors. True many of the other banks were also lobbying furiously when US lawmakers were trying to put together the legislation to overhaul Wall Street. But Goldman Sachs stands out as a special case.

And now after the lobbying, Goldman Sachs has changed its campaign contributions. It's hedging its bets. The New York Post reports that during the last election cycle, 64% of Goldman's contributions went to Democrats. Now, the cash split is an even 50-50, according to campaign data.

Whether it's lobbying or campaign contributions, for Goldman Sachs it's just business as usual.
