Goldman Sachs: The movie

Goldman Sachs: The movie

And now Goldman Sachs has taken PR to new levels.

With an investigation now under way into the Security and Exchange Commission settlement with Goldman, exquisitely timed to coincide with Obama's financial reform package, Goldman Sachs has decided to tell its story. It's making a movie about itself.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Goldman has enlisted the services of Ric Burns, brother of film maker Ken Burns who brought us the brilliant documentaries on the Civil War and jazz, to make the film.

Goldman Sachs is paying for the documentary and will have complete editorial control through its marketing department. Officially, it's for Goldman Sachs employees. The makes a lot of sense. Think about it, who would pay to see it? But that means it will be up on YouTube in no time at all.

What's it going to be called? Tiernan Ray at the Barron's blog suggests "Goldfinger" and "How To Steal A Billion".

Not bad. How about "Small Time Crooks" or "Prince of Thieves". Or better still, "The World Is Not Enough".
