The big news is that Hewlett Packard is being investigated for bribery.
In the Moscow Times, we have the story that the Germans and Russians are investigating allegations that HP paid million-dollar kickbacks to win a contract with the Russian Government. The bribes were paid over a period of seven years through a series of shell companies spread from Wyoming to New Zealand.
That dates them back to the time of former chief Carly Fiorina who has denied any knowledge of these companies. Yeah right!! This could blow her campaign for the US Senate out of the water. Watch this space.
The $47 million scam involved he supply of computer hardware and software and installation services for Russian prosecutors around the country.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission have stepped into the frame to see whether HP perpetrated any violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. And if it's found guilty, it will not only be found but it will stand to lose lucrative government work.
And then, there's Fiorina. She might deny any knowledge but you can bet she'll be hauled in for questioning.
