Some experts feel no matter how strict laws you make, corporate crime can never be controlled. Many of you would be aware that Arthur Anderson, the giant accounting firm was involved in federal criminal charges but the conviction was reversed due to faulty jury instructions. The reversal came too late and the company had already lost a lot of business as it became bankrupt owing to conviction. A whopping 30,000 people got unemployed. The firm eventually died.
This is termed as collateral consequences where the punishment is not handed over by the courts but by governments and customers, formally or informally prohibited from carrying out business with a convicted corporation.
Not just corporate crime is on the rise but there has been a rise in household crimes also and this has prompted number of people to install home security system so that their family can stay secure while their men are out for work.
