How much did Ruth Madoff know about her husband Bernard's shenanigans. According to a New York Times report last month, she might have been completely in the dark, only finding out about her husband's misdeeds with the rest of the world. The reporters, David Segal and Alison Leigh Cowan write: "It sounds strange to say of a woman whose name is on the registration of a 38-foot yacht and who hopscotches among homes in Manhattan; Montauk on Long Island; Palm Beach, Fla.; and Antibes, France, but by the standards of her peers, Mrs. Madoff lives a relatively modest life."
Yeah right, really modest. How then do we explain the reports that Mrs Madoff withdrew more than $15m from an account shortly before her husband was put under house arrest? How convenient was that for Bernard now under house arrest.
