The climate change industry is in its early stages and it's worth monitoring. Business is now obsessed with carbon and carbon neutrality, which is difficult to define because we don't yet have any objective standards, has become the symbol of the virtuous corporation. We are now seeing more and more money chasing renewable energy, carbon offsets, green buildings and sustainable investments.
This is what makes a new Ethical Corporation report, The climate change industry takes root, worth checking out.
The report looks at a range of issue. Like for example what industry leaders like for example Whole Foods, the Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil, Spanish utility and wind power giant Iberdrola, Scottish wave power company Ocean Power Delivery and Unilever which has reduced carbon dioxide emissions in its manufacturing operations by more than 30 per cent over the past.
It examines the new job growth area of climate careers, like climate change and sustainability managers. And the explosion in climate consultancies and the way the big players like McKinsey, Booz Allen Hamilton and the Big Four are getting in on the act, realizing there is big money to be made.
It also examines the issue confronting carbon offsetting, nuclear energy, renewable energy and green buildings.
Not too many rivetting insights here, and a lot of the stuff it canvasses we know already. But as an overview of a market trend and guide to potential strategies for the future, it's worth reading.

The marketability of environmental solutions seems to be the key to their success. If people can make money off saving the planet, which they can, then people seem to be hopping on board. Exxon, GE, Siemens, and others are not pushing for more regulation of environmental issues and more environmental spending because they make our world greener, but because they stand to increase their margins.

Sometimes a market trend is a good thing to help individuals who want a better understanding of key words they are getting better at recognizing. Americans know that there is climate issue, now they can get better aquainted with companies that are trying new approaches to citizen's daily lifestyles. Whole Foods is a great organic business in the United States.
