With her nation in recession, German chancellor Angela Merkel has come out swinging, attacking the US for causing the economic crisis by flooding the system with cheap money and then the banks for not lending money.
But you would have to wonder about Merkel's inflexibility, particularly her refusal to make it easier for Germans by giving them tax cuts. As Spiegel notes, it's splitting her own party and causing all sorts of political fallout.
