With Conrad Black's Sun-Times Media filing for bankruptcy, the Paper Cuts blog estimating that the newspaper closures have resulted in the loss of nearly 8000 jobs and with GM and Chrysler heading for bankruptcy, it's time to look at the similarities between the newspaper and auto industries.
As I point out in my column here , business schools in 20 years times will hold up the two sectors as examples of industries that refused to act on the changes coming. They refused to see reality, and create a new future.
In that sense, they are both sick industries.
