There have been all sorts of solutions to fight climate change but this one is the most unusual.
Japanese airline ANA has introduced a pee before you fly policy. The basic idea is that if passengers relieve themselves before they board the plane, they will weigh less which in turn will save fuel and reduce carbon emissions. As detailed here, the airline claims the average human bladder has the capacity to hold 15oz, and if 150 passengers relieved themselves on board an aircraft, this would amount to about 141 pounds of waste per flight.
This has to be the most bizarre request. How do the airline staff police it? How do you enforce a rule like that? And as Amy Ridenour's National Center blog says, if the airline really wanted people to reduce emissions, it would ask them to stay at home.
