An alarming report from the Upshot blog that an investigation has revealed that more than 250 civilian and military employees of the Pentagon, including some with the highest available security clearance, used credit cards or PayPal to purchase images of children in sexual situations. But the Pentagon investigated only a few cases. We are told that only a "handful" were actually prosecuted. The Pentagon did not want to investigate.
The suspects included 76 individuals with secret security clearance or higher and nine with access to America's most sensitive secrets. They included staffers for the secretary of Defense, contractors working for the National Security Agency (NSA) and a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
