You would have to say why bother. Wired reports that Apple has approved the official iPhone app for Playboy magazine. That would have to be for people who go to Playboy for the articles. But then, even they might feel ripped off.
You see, Apple's policies prohibit nudity in apps which means you can buy the $2 app to access interviews, feature stories and a preview video without nudity.
In other words, this is Playboy's porn-free app. And as the Huffington Post points out, you don't even get articles. Just a table of contents and bits of text to titillate.
Analysts would ask the obvious question: why would anyone would buy it? Maybe the people running Playboy think this is a way of making money, particularly when sales of the magazine are falling and the management is looking for a buyer.
The reality is Playboy is just a relic of another era and this latest foray into iPhone app technology will not save it.
