Global investment in sustainable energy was up by an astonishing 43 per cent over 2005, most of it coming in wind, solar and biofuels. And it shows no sign of abating. In the first quarter of 2007, a total of $2.2 billion of venture capital and private equity flowed into the sustainable energy sector, up 58 per cent over the same quarter in 2006. According to the report, venture capital and private equity are now targeting this area more and more. Which suggests that sustainable energy companies could soon be growth investments.
