We all know the aviation industry is in serious trouble. The global credit crisis has hit demand badly with reports showing that passenger traffic has fallen 5.6% while air cargo shipments plunged 23.2%. And with the world economy imploding, the airline industry has probably not even hit the bottom yet.
Clearly, airlines are looking for new ways to recoup costs which means passengers are now more likely to have to pay for those little extras.
But Ryanair has taken it to new extremes with its chief executive Michael O'Leary telling the BBC that the airline is is considering charging passengers for using the toilet while flying.
Not a bad idea. But presumably, the airline shouldn't charge passengers for food and drink if people have to pay extra to lose that later on.
