"A lot better people than I am have been in prison for a long time. Give me something to work on, give me something to accomplish. At some point, people will ask what really happened (at Enron). It would be good if they had someone there who could tell them."
Still claiming his innocence, he said he prepared for the trial by trekking through the Utah wilderness for two weeks, sleeping on the ground and eating caterpillars and GRUB worms.
What comes through in the interview is Skilling's biggest flaw. Nothing said about the destruction of the company and investor wealth, nothing said about the people who lost their jobs and retirement incomes. In the end, it's all about him.
