Attention shifts to the Securities and Exchange Commission's Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies which meets today.
Sarbanes-Oxley seems to be unravelling with the committee's draft recommendations to provide "exemptive relief" for small cap companies. These change goes to the heart of what the law's about and law professors say it cannot be dismissed as fine-tuning.
But if there's any winding back in the US, Sarbanes-Oxley impact is being felt overseas with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board extending its tentacles beyond the United States.
