Divorces can be very expensive and can leave people tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket.
It's a sign of the times that a North Carolina-based insurance startup SafeGuard Guaranty Corporation is now selling divorce insurance.
Its WedLock Insurance package costs $16 a month. You get $1250 to cover expenses like divorce legal proceedings and people who take it out can buy multiple units. And as an incentive, for every year their policy lasts, SafeGuard will throw in another $250 of coverage for each unit they own.
