Study shows iPad owners are selfish elitists
Filed in archive strategy on July 28, 2010

What does your iPad say about you? Does it tell us you are a forward thinking tech type who is right up there at the cutting edge? Or does it tell us you are an insecure selfish elitist who was prepared to shell out hundreds of dollars to boost your self-esteem.
That's the question raised by consumer research group MyType in a piece of research reported in Wired found that iPad owners are wealthy, sophisticated, highly educated workaholics who are disproportionately interested in business and finance but who really couldn't give a rat's arse about other people. In other words, iPad owners are just selfish elitists.
The ones who criticize it are supposed to be the independent gamers and geeks who love Linux, high tech and are altruistic.
While the study is not that comprehensive, it does raise questions about the kind of market Apple is targeting. But where does that leave the rest of us who have never bothered to go out and buy one because we don't really care?
