Is this a warning of things to come?
An alarming story out of the Los Angeles Times about looting in a supermarket in Israel that went bankrupt. According to the piece, ex-employees took their revenge first helping themselves to crates of groceries. Then came the creditors who walked in and made off with cash registers. Then came the ordinary shoppers. Leaving their cars still running in the car park, they brought their kids to pick the shelves clean. The report says this sort of thing has happened at two other places in Israel.
The question is whether this is a sign of things to come. It coincides with reports out of Britain that recession related robberies are on the rise and other reports of a massive increase in fraud.
With no sign of recovery, people are getting desperate. It's a trend that will continue to grow.
