The beancounters cash in
The biggest winners out of Sarbanes-Oxley are the accountants. Back in December, I blogged on how the beancounters were cleaning up.

The trend has continued with the starting salaries for accounting graduates up 6.2 per cent to $45,723, according to a report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Sarbanes-Oxley has driven the growth of the Big Four, and the second tier is cleaning up too, according to this report.

Yep, the accounting firms are recruiting big time to keep up with demand from companies trying to comply with the new regulatory environment, and it's hard to see that slowing down.

Which is kind of perverse when you think about the accounting scandalslinks that gave us Sarbanes-Oxley in the first place.
