Rising dairy and beef prices are forcing McDonalds to do the unthinkable and removing the cheese from its infamous cheeseburgers, reports The Wall Street Journal. It's a significant move because the double cheeseburger is the main part of McDonald's successful Dollar Menu, the gimmick that the fast-food chain has spent decades using to drive sales in the US. Some stores have raised the price of the cheeseburger to $1.19 and others are even (gasp) offering a burger without cheese.
Still, if it introduces Americans to decent food, it can't be that bad a thing. It could be a start.
