corporate governance

Corporate governance is increasingly like a zoo! That's one insight that has come out of the 2008 International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) conference recently held in Seoul, Korea.
AMP Capital Investors has put out a corporate governance report on some of observations.
One of the most interesting is that corporate governance has now turned into a "zoo". When boards of directors now look at their shareholders, they see everything from private equity, venture capitalists which can include anyone from short sellers to long-term value investors, mutual funds, pension funds and suspicious looking but quite legitimate Sovereign Wealth Funds.
And the problem is that different investors have different agendas. It's quite a striking reminder of how challenging it is for boards today.
