The Walt Disney Company seems to have stunned everyone with its latest corporate responsibility report which says it will aim for zero net greenhouse gas emissions and reducing indirect greenhouse gas emissions from electricity consumption.
Anyone who has been to Disneyland would have to wonder how that's possible. The Orlando Sentinal raises some serious questions. How can Disney hope to go green when its two cruise ships in 2006 generated nearly 270,000 tons of "carbon-dioxide equivalents," and when its theme parks and reosrts produced about 244,000 tons of carbon-dioxide equivalents, or about 43 percent of the company total and its third party bus operators generated roughly 14,700 tons.
Green Daily questions how they can completely eliminate their landfill waste when the technology hasn't been invented yet.
And in any case, I'm still trying to work out how Disney can truly go green when people fly in from all over the world.
