There are now eight key markets looking for accountants: Australia, Canada, China, Eastern Europe, India,Japan, United Kingdom and United States, reports CFO.com.
China is interesting, because it has been known as the "land of the missing accountants", something going back to the Cultural Revolution's war on capitalism when accountants were among the hundreds of thousands of professionals who were denounced, sent off into exile or even killed. It's also something I have blogged on.
There is no quick fix because training and experience takes time. But given the supply and demand situation, it also explains why the beancounters are cashing in.
