Wesley Snipes and the Ponzi scheme

Wesley Snipes last year was pinged for tax evasion. The only reason he is not yet in jail is that he is appealing against the sentence.

Now we have reports that he lost millions of dollars in an alleged Ponzi scheme which is now before the courts.

As the CMR movie review blog says, the last few years have not been kind to Snipes but then, he has no one to blame but himself. "Snipes has managed to stay out of jail thus far, as the court allowed him to stay free during the appeals process, but he was not able to avoid the hefty fines that come with tax evasion. And with three years in federal prison looking him the eye, and likely millions lost to a couple of crooks, maybe this time he will get the message that despite the saying otherwise, crime indeed does not always pay."

More to the point, maybe he will get the message that greed doesn't pay. The same greed that drove him to rip off the US public by not paying his taxes was the same greed that saw him push millions of dollars into a get-rich-quick scheme that turned out to be a complete scam. Greed in both cases proved to be his undoing.
