Your credit card is spying on you

Watch how you use that credit card.

The Daily Beast reports that Visa cards can not only predict what products you are likely to buy. They can even tell us how bad your marriage is.

Yale Law professor Ian Ayres says it's all done through data mining and algorithms. They have found that people who enjoy dancing are more apt to want to buy a Mac, that people who like The Count on Sesame Street tend to support legalizing marijuana, that pug owners are often fans of The Shawshank Redemption, and that card holders who prefer aisle seats on planes "spend more money on other people than themselves." Conversely those who prefer window seats are more self-focused.

And what about divorce? If you are going through one, you are more likely to miss payments. At the same time, if you are going through a marriage bust up, you are more likely to use your card.

Now, that's great news for card companies. And it's even better for them that you don't pay what you owe at the end of the month. They can add to the heart ache by charging you interest to make even bigger profits.
